What is a live station board?

A live station board is the real-time equivalent of the departure/arrival display screens you see inside a railway station. It lists every train expected at that station in the next 8 hours — along with its scheduled and actual time, current delay, platform number (once assigned), and whether the train is arriving, departing, or only passing through. On this site, station boards update automatically every 90 seconds direct from the Indian Railways NTES feed.

How do I find the live board for my station?

Type the station name or code into the search box on this page. As you type, matching stations appear in a dropdown — select yours and the live board opens immediately. You can also search by code (e.g. NDLS for New Delhi, CSTM for CSMT Mumbai, HWH for Howrah). If you are unsure of the code, typing the city name is usually enough to find the right station.

How far ahead does the station board show trains?

The board shows all trains expected within a rolling 8-hour window from the current time. This covers the bulk of trains a traveller would practically need to check — if you need to plan further ahead, use the train schedule page for a specific train instead.

What do the Arriving / Departing / Passing Through labels mean?

Arriving means the train's final destination is this station or before, and it will stop here to let passengers off. Departing means the train originates at or stops at this station and passengers can board. Passing Through (yellow badge) means the train has no scheduled commercial halt — it either runs non-stop past the station or makes only a brief technical stop without accepting passengers. Always check this label before heading to the platform.

Why is the platform number blank for some trains?

Platform numbers are assigned by the Station Master — typically 30 to 90 minutes before a train arrives — and are then pushed to the NTES system. If no platform number is shown, it has simply not been assigned yet. Refresh the station board closer to the scheduled arrival time and it will appear.

How real-time is the delay information?

Delay figures are based on NTES station-crossing reports. Each time a train passes through a reporting station, the system logs actual vs scheduled time and the delay is recalculated. On busy mainline routes, updates typically arrive within 5–15 minutes of the train passing a station. The page auto-refreshes every 90 seconds, so you are always seeing the most recent available data.

Can I filter by train type on the station board?

Yes. The station board includes a filter bar at the top with tabs for All, Arriving, Departing, and Passing Through. Within these views you can further narrow results by train category — Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Vande Bharat, Express, Passenger, and more — so you can focus on exactly the trains relevant to your journey.
