About the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Corridor

The Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express is one of India's oldest and most iconic long-distance services, inaugurated on 3 March 1969. The route covers approximately 1,447 km via the Chord Line (Dhanbad–Gaya) or ~1,531 km via the Main Line (Patna), connecting Kolkata's principal passenger terminal with the capital overnight.

Two daily Howrah Rajdhani variants operate — 12301 (Chord Line, evening) and 12305 (Main Line, afternoon) — alongside the 12313 Sealdah Rajdhani (from Sealdah, daily) and the 22811 Bhubaneswar Rajdhani (passing through Santragachi). The 20503 Vande Bharat Express is the fastest daytime option, and the 12259 Sealdah Duronto offers a near-non-stop overnight service three times a week. Together, these trains provide over-night and daytime fully-AC connectivity across six stations spread across Greater Kolkata and four terminals in Delhi.
